International Ankle Consortium

The International Ankle Consortium (IAC), founded in 2004, was established to create a global platform for advancing scientific and clinical understanding of ankle injuries and disorders. With a particular focus on lateral ankle sprains (LAS) and chronic ankle instability (CAI) in physically active individuals, the IAC brings together experts dedicated to deepening our knowledge of injury mechanisms, improving prevention strategies, and refining evidence-based care.

Over the years, the consortium has grown into a vibrant international community of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals committed to elevating the science and practice of foot–ankle health.

Since its inception, the International Ankle Symposium has been organized every two to three years, serving as a key meeting point for scholars, clinicians, and students to exchange new ideas, present emerging data, and build collaborative networks centered on shared scientific themes. The next edition, IAS 2026, will be hosted in Seoul, South Korea, inviting our global community to gather once again to explore the latest discoveries and future directions in ankle research and clinical practice.
